The leadership and elders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State’s central zone have endorsed Governor Caleb Mutfwang for a second term in office.
The move came to light when the party stakeholders of the zone gathered in Jos over the weekend.
The chairman of the PDP in the zone, Monday Daspan, after some formalities, opened the floodgate of remarks on the occasion, where he stated that the ability of Governor Mutfwang to take sole decisions on critical issues which bordered on the collective interest of the citizens aligned with the most desirable wishes of the people.
While moving the motion for the adoption of the governor, Despan, on behalf of the executive council and leaders of the party in that zone, also passed a vote of confidence in him.
He said that the governor has done well since taking office two years ago, regardless of political, ethnic, tribal, and religious affiliations, and therefore deserves another term as a recognition of his good performance.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Caleb Mwansat, while describing the move as apt, noted that Mutfwang’s innate leadership capacity is evident in the transformations that have taken place within the state in a short time.
Other stakeholders at the event also endorsed the move to re-elect the governor for a second term, saying he has demonstrated that he is not a tribal, religious, or ethnic governor. According to them, he treats all with every sense of equanimity.
Similarly, the PDP stakeholders in Riyom Local Government Area of the state also endorsed the governor and his deputy, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, for a second term in office, commending their exemplary leadership in the state.
They stated this at an all-encompassing meeting of the party in the council, where they expressed their views on the quality of leadership style of the present administration.
