Maggi for Nestle Nigeria has commenced the 2025 partnership empowerment development programme for the women in the South East, using the Year 2025 Women August Meeting in the five states of the region to develop the country.
Speaking at the weekend during the Year 2025 August Women Meeting hosted by the Owerri Anglican Women Christ, Home and Abroad, comprising various prize-winning competitions such as cooking, pep talks, contributions and engagement programmes, held at the Christ Anglican Church, Owerri, the Category Manager/Head of Maggi for Nestle Nigeria, Funmi Osineye, said the programme, which commenced years ago, is taking place in Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States. She added that the presence of Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi-Nze was to use her as a symbol of a successful woman to connect with other women. She also disclosed that the cooking competitions saw the emergence of Mrs. Merit Njeribeako as the first-place winner; Mrs. Charity Anikam, second position; and Josephine Nwagbaraocha in the third position with mouthwatering prizes. Some oral contributors in the pep discussion and questions and answers on health issues would also be rewarded with cash and empowerment offers.
She explained: “It is important because it is a meeting where they discuss things that progress Nigeria, relating to women and community development. We, as a brand that is rooted with heritage, thought that whatever they are saying is for the women generally in the Southeast states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo. It is not all about gathering; we are empowering them. We partner for community development and empowerment programmes for the good of families and Nigeria.”
In her speech, the President of the Owerri Anglican Women Christ, Dr. Chioma Onwuegbu, said the body had ensured that peace reigned in the family and communities in the state, noting that their husbands and children were important to them. She stressed the necessity of women taking their skills, no matter how menial or big, very seriously.
