Author, Character Educator, and Family Life Advocate Tomiwa Egbewumi recently launched her book, ‘Together’, in Lagos. The event brought together singles, couples, parents, professionals, and friends for a meaningful gathering focused on strengthening families and relationships for a unique experience.
Featuring book readings, couples’ dance, and panel discussions, the event explored the core themes of the book including role modelling in parenting and Intentional love.
According to the author, the inspiration for ‘Together’ came from her experience interacting with and teaching children. “Each unruly adult was once a child shaped by what they were taught or weren’t. In working with children, I found that lessons often struggle to take root in their hearts when the adults around them model the opposite.”
She noted that this realisation led her to expand her advocacy more intentionally to adults, parents, couples, and professionals who model behaviours and shape values. She also described ‘Together’ as “a weapon to troubleshoot social issues against the marriage institution and children,” and a resource that offers lifetime support for those working to build healthy relationships and homes.
One of the attendees, Mr. Bayo Adeyinka, who spoke at the event, described the book as an essential read for every household. “This book should be in the hands of every family. It is practical, applicable, relatable, and intentionally written to help relationships, families, and marriages.”
While another attendee, Mrs. Bisola Oduyale highlighted its relevance for young couples: “I am happy about this book because a strong marriage is beyond the wedding celebrations. Young couples must be able to come together and keep the relationship going forever.”
