Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, said he has no apologies about his friendship with President Bola Tinubu despite being members of different political parties.

Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stated this on Tuesday after he met with Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja.

During the visit, Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), donned a cap emblazoned with inscriptions pledging support for Tinubu, who is seeking re-election in 2027.

The Anambra governor said, “I have no apologies about it. President Tinubu is my friend, has been my friend, for 22 years now and counting.

“So, you don’t deny your friend. He is my friend. I support him, I am impressed by the bold steps he has taken, particularly in the area of the economy.”

In May, Tinubu endorsed Soludo for reelection during a visit to Awka, the Anambra State capital.

The President expressed deep appreciation and commendation to Soludo for laying a very solid foundation for a focused, steady growth of Anambra State.

Tinubu, in his remarks at the popular Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square shortly after commissioning many projects executed by Gov. Soludo’s administration, described the Governor as his friend and ally who was among his advisers right from the starting block of his administration.

“And the nation was better for it. He’s a progressive, and we are working together from the centre. So we are comfortable with him. With him, Anambra is on the rise,” Tinubu said.
