A group of lawyers from Abia State have thrown their weight behind Dr. Emeka Kalu’s senatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Sunday by Emelike Okorie, a legal practitioner and political ally of the aspirant, at least 10 lawyers drawn from various parts of the state, including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), have been inaugurated to serve as legal and political advisers for Kalu’s campaign.
The statement described the group as experienced professionals in election litigation and political consultancy, positioning them to guide Kalu’s efforts to secure a Senate seat for Abia North.
Okorie said, “The race for 2027 elections has commenced unofficially. In the Nigerian political atmosphere, time starts running and strategic assemblage of men and women to place the card for the shining lights of our son, Chief Emeka Kalu begins.”
He noted that legal experts from across the local government areas in Abia State have resolved to support Kalu’s candidacy, adding that the decision signals a shift in the state’s political dynamics.
“Abia North legal minds rose, cutting across the entire local government areas of Abia State and gave the nod for the next senator from Abia North to emerge from Amogwu, Bende, and to push for the election of Chief Emeka Kalu as the next senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
Okorie urged the people of Bende to rally around Kalu, describing the moment as “the most-timely timed season to give in all within our might to fight this noble project.”
He further declared that “a tsunami is in the offing that will alter the political status quo marked by deliberate, sustained, strategic plan to elect our son into the National Assembly.”
Okorie reaffirmed his commitment to Kalu’s ambition, saying he would continue to serve in a legal advisory capacity to ensure victory at the polls.
