The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ondo State chapter, on Wednesday dispelled rumours circulating about leadership change within the party, disclosing that the current State Executive Committee remains in full control of the party’s affairs.

According to a statement issued by the party and made available to The Guardian by its Publicity Secretary, Eniola Olurotimi, the Executive Committee, led by its Chairperson, Sidikatu Ganiyu Ojo, stated that it is the only constitutionally recognised leadership of the ADC in the state.

While urging members, stakeholders, and the public to disregard any misleading claims suggesting an alteration in the party’s leadership structure, Olurotimi emphasised the party’s commitment to stability, transparency, and grassroots mobilisation.

With the party assuring members that the leadership remains focused on strengthening the party’s structures and preparing for future elections, it declared as null and void recent appointments where certain individuals were purportedly announced as new coordinators for local government offices.

He said, “We urge all party members, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard any misleading claims or publications suggesting a change in the Ondo State executive. Chief (Mrs.) Ganiyu Sidikatu Ojo remains the authentic and recognised Chairperson of the African Democratic Congress in Ondo State.

“All the lists of names announced by certain people to coordinate local government offices of ADC in Ondo State are hereby not acceptable, null and void, as they run counter to the subsisting order within the party. Therefore, all those so appointed must immediately desist from exercising any authority whatsoever on behalf of the party.”

While also addressing national political developments, the party maintained that “the coalition of parties in Nigeria has resolved to join forces with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to bring an end to the ongoing hardship and misrule caused by the APC government. This historic alliance is aimed at restoring hope, unity, and prosperity to Nigerians.”

The party warned individuals and groups against impersonating party authority or taking actions outside the constitutional framework of the ADC.

“Any future appointments at the local level will be done in accordance with the party’s constitution and with the full consent of the state executive,” it said.
