The entire Edogi Chapa village, in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, was thrown into confusion following a late-night attack by suspected bandits.

The bandits abducted two women in a coordinated attack, said to have lasted several hours, on the peaceful village.
Information held that the attackers struck at about 11:00 p.m.

According to a source (name withheld), the gunmen, on arrival, shot several bullets into the air before forcefully taking the victims from their homes.

A highly placed community leader confirmed that the victims have been taken to an unknown destination, adding: “We are bowled over in disarray because of the fear we suffered from the attack.”

An anonymous security personnel, however, recalled that the attack and the subsequent abduction were the most recent in a troubling wave of violent attacks across Kwara North.

“Residents in several rural communities have continued to live in fear of recurring bandit raids,” he added.
According to him, the senatorial zone has witnessed repeated assaults in recent months.

He said, “On June 6, armed men launched coordinated attacks on Gbugbu, Guye Dadi, and Ekko communities—abducting a businessman, a woman, and killing one resident.”

“In Gbugbu, the assailants kidnapped Alhaji Yau, a popular phone dealer, while in Guye Dadi, they abducted the wife of another target, Alhaji Manle. In Ekko, one person was killed, and another abducted during the night raid,” he listed.

Other communities in the Lafiagi Emirate, like Lata Nna, according to them, have also suffered violent ambushes. Vigilante teams were recently attacked, their vehicles burned, and residents displaced.
