The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Nwafor, on Tuesday, said that the adoption of the party by coalition partners as their platform to wrest power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rekindled their efforts to dismantle the APC in the state.
Nwafor, in a chat with journalists in Abakaliki, noted that the adoption of the party has sent a clear signal to the ruling APC in the state of the danger ahead, adding that the party intends to ensure that it wins all the elections in Ebonyi State.
She called on other coalition partners in Ebonyi State to unite and win future elections, thereby bringing the needed change that Nigerians yearned for.
While speaking on the state affairs of the party, Adibe said, “In Ebonyi State, just like what is going on in every other state, after the announcement by the coalition partners, we went back to our drawing board to see how we can do everything we can to proceed.
She said, “What we are doing now is no longer what we used to do because now we are going down to the grassroots to get more people to know about the party,” adding that plans are underway for a program in order to create awareness for the party.
The ADC chairman revealed that since the announcement of the coalition, the party has been engaging with other coalition partners to reposition and strengthen itself.
She said, “Many people have been calling, many have been registering. Within the past four days, we have registered more than 2,000 members. So, many are still calling, many are still needing to register.
“Because they want a change in Nigeria. And it’s a very good thing. So, the party has been doing everything possible to bring all our coalition partners together, especially those from Ebonyi State. So, we’ve been meeting and interfacing, and then we’ll see how we can nip everything in the bud.
“This week, we have had meetings with the stakeholders, that is, with our coalition partners. So, after that, we will do a lot of programs and raise more awareness. So that people will know that, yes, this is truly the ADC. ADC is not two in Ebonyi State. And we don’t have two ADCs in Nigeria. It’s only one ADC.”
She further dismissed the rumour of betraying the party over the allegations of working for the ruling APC in the state, adding that nobody was sponsoring her.
“I’m not willing to betray our party, the ADC. Therefore, we are committed to supporting ADC to the end, in every state and throughout Nigeria. So, nobody is sponsoring ADC,” she said.
