Nine-time African champions, Super Falcons of Nigeria, will pocket $1million if they win this year’s TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which begins this Saturday in Morocco.
CAF, on Friday, increased the prize money of the winner by 100 per cent, and the total prize money of this competition by 45 per cent.
The participating teams in the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco will receive $1,000 000, while the runner up will go home with $500,000.
The third place finisher will pocket $350,000, fourth place $300,000 and quarter-finalists (four teams): $200,000 for each team. The team that finishes third of the group will get $150,000. Fourth of the group (three teams) will get $125,000 for each team.
Host, Morocco will tackle Zambia in Saturday’s opening match, while the Super Falcons will face Tunisia in their first group match on Sunday.
