A group known as the Concerned Citizens of Jalingo has called on Taraba State Committee Chairman on Palliative, Sale Sa’ad, to contest for the position of Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council in the upcoming November 2025 local government elections.

The group made its appeal during a meeting held in Jalingo on Tuesday, emphasising the need for competent and visionary leadership to address the growing political, economic, and social challenges facing the local government area, which serves as the administrative capital and political hub of Taraba State.

Led by Mohammed Ishaku, the group said Jalingo LGA “is at a crossroads, grappling with issues such as ethnic marginalisation, lopsided political appointments, economic hardship, and a lack of unity among residents.”

They emphasised that the forthcoming election presents a crucial opportunity to elect a leader who can foster inclusiveness, development, and good governance.

“Jalingo Local Government needs a bridge builder, someone who transcends religious or tribal sentiments and who is committed to equity, fairness, peace, and progress,” the group said.

Highlighting Sale Sa’ad’s political experience, the group praised his tenure as a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly and as Commissioner for Environment, during which he was described as an ardent politician and a leader who positively impacted lives across the local government.

They also noted his recent efforts as Chairman of the Committee on Palliative, particularly in the area of food security.

“Sale Sa’ad has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice, integrity, and the empowerment of young people. His proven track record of excellence and vision for a more inclusive and transparent community is precisely what we need,” the group stated.

The group urged all residents of Jalingo, irrespective of political party, religion, or ethnic affiliation, to support Sale Sa’ad should he declare interest in the chairmanship race, expressing confidence that he would usher in an era of economic growth, accountability, and sustainable development.

“It is time to act. Together, we can ensure a brighter, stronger, and more just future for Jalingo Local Government,” the group said.
