The Concerned Benue Stakeholders Forum (CBSF) has condemned the recent killing of four officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in an attack on Udei community, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, allegedly carried out by armed Fulani bandits.
The spokesperson of the group, Mr. Gabriel Onyilo, stated that the wanton attack on security operatives in the state is taking a dangerous dimension. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Makurdi. He condemned the attack, describing it as “wicked and unconscionable.”
Onyilo expressed concern that the incessant killings of security operatives in the state had gone uncurbed.
He said, “One wonders if the perpetrators of these evil acts are invisible and untraceable because these attacks have become never-ending.”
Onyilo observed that suspected armed herders have become very emboldened to carry out these attacks on security operatives and civilian settlements at will.
He urged security agents to rise and challenge the bandits who have continued to terrorise the state.
“Security agents must rise to the challenge of arresting these unscrupulous elements who have continued to terrorise our state.
“We cannot fold our hands and watch these criminals take over our state.
“Something has to be done to stem this worrisome tide,” he stated.
Onyilo also extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Benue State Police Command.
“Security agencies must ensure that all those responsible for this heinous crime are apprehended and brought to justice,” he said.
