Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to turn out in large numbers to vote for the party’s candidates in the local council election slated for July 12, 2025, across the state.

In a statement, yesterday, the deputy governor, who gave the charge during the APC campaign rally at the Lagos East Senatorial District in Ikorodu, stressed that APC is the ideal party for Nigerians, urging its members to work harmoniously for the success of the party in the elections.

According to him, “I want all our party faithful to come out en-masse to vote for all the party’s candidates, as the party has provided many developmental projects to leverage on during the campaign.

“I have been to the 20 local councils and the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and I was surprised and impressed at the projects completed and commissioned by the current chairmen. This shows the level of our performance as a party. We have records, and we are loaded, not empty barrel.”

Hamzat added that the governor and himself had personally commissioned many of such projects, including the members of the National Assembly who have also commissioned some, noting that the party has a lot of completed projects to talk about.

The deputy governor, while emphasising that APC is the only party to organise such a mega rally to support its candidates, urged members of the APC to close ranks and avoid any internal wrangling to ensure success at the forthcoming polls.

He, however, congratulated every party member for having the father of the party as the current President of the country, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard to enhance the living standard of the citizens.

Earlier in his remark, the senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Tokunbo Abiru, stated that the event underscores the crucial role that grassroots play in politics and the development of local councils and LCDAs in the state.

Abiru added that the election also plays a significant role in the development of the locality, stressing that it is an opportunity for them to begin to build and consolidate APC’s progressive agenda across all the councils and in all the LCDAs in the state.

He, therefore, charged and encouraged Lagos East residents to begin with the mobilisation of grassroots support from house to house, street to street, and corner to corner, to make sure that the election has a meaningful outcome.

Similarly, in his address, the Chairman of APC in the state, Cornelius Ojelabi, urged the party faithful to mobilise for the success of the upcoming election, stressing that the grassroots play a vital role in the community’s success.

He charged those aggrieved over the outcome of the party’s primaries to, for the interest of the party, close ranks and work for the success of APC at the polls.

Ojelabi, who urged party faithful to put aside their differences and work together towards winning the polls, said the party would reward members who demonstrate loyalty and work towards its success on election day.
