The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Tuesday announced that it had reached an agreement with Customs Licensed Cargo Agents operating at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on cargo port charges.

The authority said the agreement was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday at the MMIA Terminal 2 Conference Room.

In a press release issued by FAAN, it said the meeting was convened to deliberate on the proposed cargo port charges and was chaired by the Director of Cargo Development and Services, Lekan Thomas.

Both parties agreed on a port charge of N15 per kilogram, representing a compromise between the earlier proposed N20 per kilogram and the existing N7 per kilogram tariff.

The authority said the outcome followed constructive deliberations between airport management and cargo operators.

It added that the agreement is expected to enhance the ease of doing business at the Lagos airport while supporting sustainable airport and cargo infrastructure development.
