American R&B star Victoria Monét has opened up about how her chart-topping collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats heavyweight Davido on Offa Me came together in the most unplanned way.
In a recent interview that surfaced online on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Grammy Award-winning singer revealed that the record, Offa Me, was never initially intended to feature Davido but somehow found its way to him through an unexpected chain of events.
Monét explained that the song was born during a studio session with Haitian producer Michaël Brun, known for his fusion of global sounds like Afrobeats and Dancehall.
“I was working with a producer from Haiti named Michaël Brun. We made the song randomly, and some months later, I don’t even know how it got to Davido, but he called me and said Davido wanted the song and we just did it,” she recalled.
What started as a spontaneous session turned into one of the standout tracks on Davido’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5ive. Offa Me has since become a fan favorite, praised for its effortless blend of Afrobeats and R&B, as well as the undeniable chemistry between both artists.
