Nigerian producer Tempoe has scored yet another career-defining milestone with the global smash Soweto, his hit collaboration with singer Victony.

The track was officially certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on September 15, 2025, after surpassing 500,000 certified units in sales and streams in the United States.

Released on May 5, 2022, Soweto has become one of the defining Afrobeats anthems of the decade, resonating far beyond Africa and cementing the reputation of Tempoe as one of the genre’s most consistent hitmakers. The song’s remix, which featured American rapper Don Toliver and Nigerian star Rema, further boosted its global reach, introducing it to a wider international audience.

This latest certification marks Tempoe’s third RIAA plaque. He previously earned an 8x Platinum award for CKay’s worldwide breakout hit Love Nwantiti and a Gold plaque for Omah Lay’s soulful track Soso. Together, these achievements not only reflect his growing legacy but also reflect Afrobeats’ increasing dominance in the U.S. market.

The success of Soweto adds to the genre’s unstoppable momentum, with African music continuing to break barriers, win global recognition, and capture new audiences worldwide. For Tempoe, it’s another golden moment in a career that shows no signs of slowing down.
