A developer and Chief Executive Officer of Bilaad Realty, Dr. Emmanuel B. Usman, has promised that they will continue and consistently stay true to their mission of addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit, which, according to recent records, stands at 28 million housing units.
Usman stated this when taking over the leadership of the firm in Abuja, saying that their culture of excellence in the built industry is not only about bricks and mortar, but also about embracing smart solutions, exploring green building practices, and expanding the value chain.
“Our subsidiaries and new ventures will be given the room to thrive, positioning us not just as developers, but as pioneers of modern living in Africa. This will be in terms of sustainability, technology, and lifestyle. Bilaad Realty will continue to lead,” he added.
According to him, “As we face the realities of a changing economic landscape and industry convergence, we need a drastic improvement in our margins, and we must save to grow. We must become lean and mean. We must drive to spend.”
The Chief Executive Officer further explained, “We must become more purposeful in how we reflect on cost; work out for ruthless efficiency through an intentional war on waste. We must move into zero-commit strategies to cut cost, grow great, and develop an attitude of seeking value for budgeting.”
Also, the former CEO, Aliyu Aliyu, noted that development could be more than construction and that they remember those early days vividly—the sleepless nights, scribbled plans, and tense strategies—adding, “Today, Bilaad is a household name, and not by accident, but by intention.”
Aliyu argued that the company is a testament to the journey—a living testimony of vision transformed into concrete, and a landmark that they’ve walked together. “Ours is still not just an idea. Men of courage, patience, and perseverance—we didn’t begin in a boardroom. It began with a belief that real estate could serve not just the company, but as a force of transformation.”
The former boss hinted that they have delivered houses in communities like Bobowasi Island, BoraBora, Fiji, and Bali Island, stressing, “Together, we plant a seed to sell homes, but also to create safe havens in the past eight unforgettable years since we first envisioned Bilaad.”
