Founding member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Osita Okechukwu, has warned authorities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) against joining in the alleged conspiracy against Dangote Refinery.

Okechukwu, in a statement on Sunday, also cautioned NUPENG, PENGASSAN, DAPMAN, IPMAN, and informal actors in the oil industry against standing in the way of Dangote Refinery from providing relief to Nigerians in the oil value chain.

Okechukwu submitted that instead of conspiring against Dangote, the only valid option left to stop the Dangote monopoly is for the NNPCL to revive the four refineries, which had gulped over $10 million for rehabilitation.
“One is at a loss how NNPCL, that woefully failed to neither manage nor repair our four refineries and regrettably denied Nigerians the golden opportunity to own 20% in the Dangote Refinery, is simulating crisis?” he queried.
“Or the NUPENG and Co., that participated in mangling the refineries and had obstructed their privatisation, are today conspiring against Dangote?

For me, what they are doing is mere sabotage and conspiracy against Nigerians; for the cardinal question is: could there have been need for the Dangote 7th largest global refinery if our four refineries were working?”

He said that instead of thanking Dangote for the reduction of local prices, savings of foreign exchange by stopping the importation of refined PMS and other derivatives, and, in addition, his exportation of refined products, the NNPCL and their co-conspirators are chasing “the yesterday they lost.”
