President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima, Dr Iyabo Masha, and others on their conferment as Fellows of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES), describing the recognition as a reward for excellence and commitment to national development.
The President, in a statement, said the honour reflected their “exemplary service, intellectual depth, and unwavering dedication” to Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.
Commending the Vice President, Tinubu praised his “visionary leadership, deep insights, and relentless commitment” to implementing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in driving inclusive growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
He also applauded Masha, who is the Director of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24), and a former member of Nigeria’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council (2019–2022), noting her global reputation as a leading voice in economic policy and research.
The President urged the new Fellows to continue deploying their expertise to support economic recovery, foster inclusive prosperity, and strengthen Nigeria’s global competitiveness. He affirmed his administration’s readiness to work with experts and institutions to deliver enduring growth and shared opportunities for all Nigerians.
MEANWHILE, Shettima has said President Tinubu remains committed to diversifying the Nigerian economy, describing him as a leader with the political will to take bold decisions.
Speaking on the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to diversify the nation’s economy at the Presidential Villa, VP Shettima cited the President’s recent trip to Brazil, which resulted in the signing of five Memmoranda of Understanding covering aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture, saying these were deliberate steps by the President in diversifying the nation’s economy.
The Vice President stated this at the weekend when he received a delegation from the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) led by its President, Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, on a courtesy visit.
