Nigerian singer-songwriter Odeal has hailed Wizkid’s Ojuelegba as the greatest Afrobeats song of all time.
The fast-rising artist, known for his hit Odogwu and a feature on Patek, made the bold declaration during a Billboard video released on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
In the clip, Odeal was tasked with ranking some of Afrobeats’ most iconic tracks in a head-to-head showdown. Songs like P-Square’s Chop My Money, Davido’s Fall, D’Banj’s Oliver Twist, and CKay’s Love Nwantiti all came up for consideration, but in the end, Wizkid’s 2014 classic Ojuelegba stood tall at number one for Odeal.
For Odeal, the choice was simple. “That is an incredible song. That’s like the Nigerian national anthem, 100 percent. You have to know that song,” he said with conviction.
Released over a decade ago, Ojuelegba is widely seen as a turning point in Afrobeats’ global journey. The track didn’t just cement Wizkid’s superstar status at home; it also grabbed international attention, inspiring a remix with Drake and Skepta that further propelled the sound worldwide.
By placing Ojuelegba at the very top, Odeal reinforced what many fans already believe, that Wizkid’s anthem is more than just a hit. It’s a cultural milestone and a timeless classic that continues to define the spirit of Afrobeats across generation
