The Coalition of Registered Political Party Members (CORPAM) on Monday launched the EMILOKAN agenda for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, describing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition’s plans to unseat him in the 2027 presidential election as dead on arrival.
CORPAM described the scribes of ADC’s coalition, including former President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister for Transport Rotimi Amechi, former Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and former Senate President David Mark, as a “conglomeration of bad belle” politicians who formed the coalition with the sole aim of wresting power from Tinubu in 2027.
CORPAM’s National Coordinator, Com. Olaposi Oginni, described the coalition as catastrophic and an attempt by its members to cling to power. He accused Atiku, Amechi, Aregbesola, and others of opposing progress in the new Nigeria that Tinubu’s led government, through its Renew Hope Agenda and economic policies, is striving to turn into reality.
Oginni, while unveiling the agenda in Abeokuta in the company of a three-term Commissioner in Ogun State, Engr. Ayo Olu; Mr. Kola Ogunleye, Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abass; and Publicity Secretary of Julius Abure’s led faction of the LP, Com. Abayomi Arabambi, said that the initiative is open to members of any political party seeking the return of Tinubu back to power in 2027.
The National Coordinator, who also serves as the National Secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), insisted that the launch of the agenda in the capital of Ogun State was aimed at rekindling the spirit of EMILOKAN, as declared by Tinubu. Despite the challenges faced before his rise as president in the 2023 presidential elections, it was intended to elevate the spirit of Yoruba progenitor Oduduwa and Egba ancestors to help him overcome his opponents in the 2027 elections.
He mentioned names of coordinators from the Southwest, including: Com. Adeoye Olalekan (Ekiti); Mrs. Kemisola Fasua (Ondo); Rasheed Giwa (Lagos); Hon. Senami Wheto (Ogun); and Mrs. Juliana Ola Nike (Oyo), urging them to work and mobilise support and votes for the president’s second term in office.
Oginni said “It is a kind of individual conviction by different people across deferent political parties, across different professions that believe in the work of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of Federal Republic of Nigeria came on board on June 2, 2022 and after that historical declaration of EMILOKAN the spirit of our ancestors of Nigeria back up Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the president of Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
“Things had gone bad before he came on board, but with all his efforts, we can see the economy stabilising now, and there is a ray of hope that the new Nigeria of our dreams is on the horizon. Therefore, I want to say loudly and clearly, without missing words, that we need to grant him an additional four years to propagate and ensure that the Nigeria of our dreams comes into being fusion.”
“These are people who are living a fake life; they have been in the shadows of leadership for decades. What else are they coming to offer that is different from what Bola Tinubu is offering Nigerians? These people are just coming out of ‘bad belle’, perhaps out of vexation at not being in power all the time because they want to be in power constantly.
Is Amechi the only Nigerian from Rivers State? Is David Mark the only Nigerian from Benue? Is Aregbesola the only Nigerian from Osun? Just because they are not in power, they want to pull down the roof. This is not acceptable, and that is why we are calling for the spirit of EMILOKAN to be reinvoked and revived throughout the country. In every individual’s life, it teaches self-confidence— that ‘I can do it’ spirit. He says it is his turn, even when the horizon is not clear. The point is, if you think it, you can achieve it. If you dream it, you can achieve it. And that is Tinubu for you Nigeria.”
“It is not about whether you are NNPP, PDP, LP, or APGA; it is about personal conviction. That is what we call a coalition of registered political party members. When Wike took decisions to support Tinubu, does it remove him from being a PDP member?”
“The ADC is already a failure; the coalition is catastrophic from the outset. I want to emphasise that it is indeed disastrous. The ADC cannot succeed because it is made up of people with ‘bad belle,’ individuals who just want to vent their anger on a particular person rather than discussing ideas, engaging in irrelevant nonsense. Anyone who is doing the right thing should support Tinubu, especially considering the kind of work the president is doing regarding the economy and the significant development that is ongoing,” he added.
