The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, is safe following fears of his alleged kidnap during a livestream on Wednesday night.
Anxiety grew after a video clip circulated online showing the 20-year-old in a tense exchange with unidentified men while driving home.
In the short footage, recorded in near darkness, Peller’s voice was heard questioning one of the men. He said, “Why are you pointing gun, calm down?” to which the man replied, “Nah you be the Peller wey dey talk anyhow?”
Speaking on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, told Channels Television that officers had traced the incident and confirmed Peller was at home and unharmed.
“We can confirm that Habeeb, known as Peller, is at home safe and sound. His car is intact, his phones and other belongings are intact. Nothing was missing. However, we are investigating to establish the facts of what really happened, and our findings will guide the next steps,” Hundeyin said.
He added that the police were not ruling out any angle, including the possibility of a staged incident, but stressed that early checks showed no evidence of violence.
“All his properties were intact, and he himself was not hurt. For now, we are keeping every option open until our investigation is concluded,” he said
