The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for lifting the emergency rule earlier imposed on Rivers State, describing the move as a bold reaffirmation of the President’s unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and democratic governance in the country.

Wike, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the President’s timely intervention had not only safeguarded the democratic fabric of Rivers State but also restored the confidence of the people in his leadership.

“The President’s proactive step has once again demonstrated his total commitment to the sustenance of democracy and peace in Nigeria,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister commended the people of Rivers State for their continuous support for President Tinubu and their faith in the government’s efforts to reposition the nation on the path of progress and sustainable development.

Wike appealed to political actors and stakeholders in the state to put aside their differences and work in unity for the collective good of the state and its citizens.

He also issued a stern warning to those he described as “fifth columnists” and crisis merchants, urging them to steer clear of the state.

“From Rivers State going forward, the only news that will emanate will be that of peace, progress, and development,” he added.

The minister’s remarks come amid efforts by the Tinubu administration to consolidate national peace and ensure stability across all federating units.
