One person died in an auto crash yesterday when a Toyota car rammed into a moving truck along Ogbere Bridge on the Benin-Ore/Ijebu-Ode Expressway in Ogun State.
Two persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.
Involved in the crash are a white Aumam truck with registration number T 17851 LA and a white Toyota Hilux with registration number A1/2 09NC.
The Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Akinbiyi said that four occupants (two male and two female adults) were involved in the accident. Two female adults sustained injuries; one was rescued unhurt, while the other died on the spot.
He said that the cause of the auto crash was due to the Toyota car driver being disobedient to traffic laws, resulting in a head-on collision with the truck.
“The driver of the Hilux drove in a direction prohibited by the traffic law and had a head-on collision with the truck,” the Corps’ spokesperson said.
Akinbiyi added that the injured victims had been rushed to Ola Oluwa Hospital, Ogbere, by TRACE operatives, while the presumed dead had been taken to Ijebu-Ode General Hospital mortuary by officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
He said that the accident vehicles had been evacuated from the road, and traffic, which was earlier affected, is now free.
