The 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has joined admirers worldwide in celebrating acclaimed novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on her birthday, hailing her as “a literary Amazon whose light continues to inspire generations.”
Obi, in a warm birthday message on Monday via his X-Handle, praised Adichie’s extraordinary talent and discipline, noting that her writings have “not only enriched global literature but also elevated the dignity of African storytelling.”
“Chimamanda has transformed her gift into a force for truth and transformation,” Obi said. “Through her books and mentorship, she has empowered young storytellers to dream fearlessly, think critically, and use words to challenge injustice and uplift humanity.”
He applauded her humility and deep sense of gratitude, recalling her visit to her alma mater to honour former teachers—even those from her earliest school days. “That simple gesture reminds us that true greatness is anchored in gratitude,” Obi wrote.
Obi concluded with a prayer for her future: “May God continue to bless Chimamanda with wisdom, joy, and strength, and may her light shine ever brighter for Nigeria and the world.”
