The Premier League have announced six players as its nominees for the best player of the month for August 2025.
The Premier League player of the month award is always organised to appreciate the player who has been outstanding for their club in that month for which the award is stipulated. This is the first award recognition for players in the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Here are the nominees for the August 2025 Premier League player of the month
(1) Riccardo Calafiori:
Riccardo Calafiori scored the Gunners’ first goal of the season in their opening game against Manchester United. The Italian also provided two assists in a 5-0 win against Leeds United.
(2) Hugo Ekitike:
Hugo Ekitike has begun like a house on fire since his signing for Liverpool this summer. He scored and assisted on his debut, in a win over AFC Bournemouth, and the striker followed that up with a goal in a victory at Newcastle United.
(3) Jack Grealish:
Grealish has been fantastic for Everton since he completed his loan move from Manchester City. He has provided four assists, double the total of any other Premier League player this season. He assisted both goals as Everton beat Brighton & Hove Albion in their first match at Hill Dickinson Stadium, before setting up two more goals in a 3-2 victory against Wolves.
(4) Marc Guehi:
The defender has been key for Crystal Palace in their unbeaten start to the season. He has contributed to two clean sheets away from home, one against Chelsea and one at Aston Villa. In Crystal Palace’s 3-0 win against Villa, Guehi scored a spectacular strike from long range.
(5) Erling Haaland:
The Norwegian has started his season on a good note despite the poor form of Manchester City, scoring three goals in the first three games of the season. Haaland’s goals came in the double against Wolves in Man City’s 4-0 triumph and an instinctive effort at Brighton & Hove Albion in a 2-1 loss.
(6) João Pedro:
Joao Pedro has contributed to four goals in August, the joint-most among Premier League players. He has two goals and two assists since joining Chelsea this summer from Brighton. The forward scored a goal and recorded two assists in a 5-1 win against West Ham United, before ending the month with a headed goal in a home derby win over Fulham.
(7) Antoine Semenyo
The Bournemouth winger started from where he left off last season. He scored an opening-day brace at Liverpool, then in their first victory of the season against Wolves.
(8) Dominik Szoboszlai
Szoboszlai has been one of the stars of Liverpool’s perfect start to 2025/26. The Hungarian has been largely playing out of position at right-back, first doing so in a 3-2 victory at Newcastle, against whom he produced a wonderful dummy in the lead-up to Liverpool’s stoppage-time winner. He went on to prodice masterclass performance against Arsenal that included scoring one of the best free-kick goals in Premier League history to win the game.
The winnee public votes will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, who will be revealed on Friday September 12, 2025.
