The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited has announced the appointment of two senior executives to lead its communications and stakeholder engagement efforts. Mr. Andy Odeh has been named Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi will serve as Chief Relations Officer.
The appointments, confirmed by the company on Monday, signal a renewed focus on strategic communication and stakeholder management within Nigeria’s national oil company.
Mr. Odeh joins NNPC Limited with over 30 years of experience spanning the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting sectors. He previously spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he held several leadership roles, including General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development. His portfolio at NLNG included oversight of community relations, business logistics, corporate communications, government relations, and regulatory compliance.
During his tenure, Odeh led the company’s rebranding efforts and played a key role in launching the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting. He also helped implement a micro-credit scheme for host communities, which gained recognition for its structure and impact. He holds degrees from the University of Jos and the University of Lagos, and has completed executive education at INSEAD Business School and the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Mrs. Adewunmi brings more than 25 years of legal and regulatory experience in the oil and gas industry, with a career rooted in the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). Her expertise includes stakeholder engagement, regulatory affairs, and government relations. At Shell, she served as Regulatory Affairs Manager and later as Government Relations Manager, where she coordinated interactions with the Presidency and key ministries and agencies.
Adewunmi is recognized for her work in managing non-technical risks and building resilient stakeholder networks. She holds a law degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and is a graduate of the Nigerian Law School.
NNPC Limited stated that the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening communication and deepening engagement with stakeholders across the energy sector.
