Super Eagles forward player Victor Boniface has been the topic of conversation among football fans in Nigeria and around the world after he failed his medicals at AC Milan.
Victor Boniface transfer to AC Milan did not see the light of day after the scan during his medicals revealed “red flags” and structural concerns in his right knee from his history of injury. He initially had two prior ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tears in his right knee (2019 and 2020) during his time at Bodo/Glimt
The scans reportedly showed scar tissue and lingering instabilities which promoted Milan’s medical team to consider the long-term risks too high for the club to take going into the 2025/26 season.
Why did Victor Boniface fail his medicals at AC Milan?
Boniface revealed the reason his move to AC Milan stalled during a live streaming session. He acknowledged the effect of repeated injuries on his career and recalled how two anterior cruciate ligament tears earlier in his career.
“I gave up at a point. When others were playing football, I was just working to get back. After my second ACL injury, I didn’t even want to play again because of the pain of the first and what I went through during the second. I lost my mum around that time too. The move didn’t work out because of my past injuries. I had a knee injury twice on my right leg, and it has been there for a long time. Try to make it to my level before you insult me.”
This means Boniface will return to Bayer Leverkusen and fight for his spot at the club under former Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag.
