A 28-year-old man, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers, has been rescued unharmed in Gombi local government council of Adamawa State following a joint operation by the State Police Command and local professional hunters.

The rescue operation took place on Monday, August 25, after security forces received credible intelligence about the location of a kidnapper’s hideout in a mountainous area of Gombi.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, officers from the Gombi Divisional Headquarters and hunters mobilised to the area and came under fire upon arrival.

A gun battle ensued, but the kidnappers, according to the statement, were forced to flee due to the superior firepower of the security team, abandoning their captive.

The victim, identified as Isah Adamu, who was a resident of Gurin in Fufore local government council, was said to have been safely rescued without injuries.

Elated by the development, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, praised the swift action and bravery of the officers and hunters involved in the operation.

He said the Command remains committed to tackling kidnapping and other forms of criminality across the state.

Morris also directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the investigation and intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Command reassured the public of its continued dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Adamawa State.
