The proposed transfer of Victor Boniface to AC Milan seems to have met a stumbling block amid concerns over the striker’s right knee.
The 24-year-old forward was set to complete his move after he completed his medicals. Still, reports from Italy suggest that an issue identified during the thorough examinations has seen AC Milan approach Bayer Leverkusen seeking a reduction while they evaluate other options.
Reports from Italy are suggesting that AC Milan will decide within the next 24 hours whether they will proceed with the move for the Nigerian international. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Victor Boniface will be back in Leverkusen waiting for AC Milan’s imminent decision on his medical tests/checks made over the weekend.
AC Milan director Igli Tare confirmed that the club is going through every detail on his medicals, having admitted that Boniface’s skills are top-notch.
He said,
“We are checking Victor Boniface medical. His football skills are excellent, but we need to take the right decision. We will make final decision soon on his medical, also with our coach, Max Allegri.”
How much is Bayer Leverkusen’s valuation for Victor Boniface?
The Bundesliga side has requested €5m loan for Victor Boniface with a €25m option to buy.
AC Milan are now considering alternative targets, they are looking at the possibility of sealing a deal with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson before the 2025 summer transfer window closes.
AS Roma reportedly rejected a swap proposal involving Boniface and Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk several weeks ago due to similar concerns over the Nigerian’s condition. The Serie A club had doubts over Boniface’s fitness after he missed several games last season due to muscle problems, leading them to turn down Leverkusen’s proposed exchange.
