There have been questions among football fans concerning the transfer of Julio Ensico from Brighton to BlueCo which is the parent company of Chelsea Football Club and Strasbourg.
Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on Thursday, August 21, 2025. According to the Italian, Julio Ensico would complete his medical as a new BlueCo player and will immediately move to Strasbourg and then to Chelsea until June 2031.
Here is why BlueCo can sign a player
The law allows a parent company to sign a player on behalf of two clubs, but he can only play for one of the clubs, and his medical also covers the club that he will play for.
In this situation, BlueCo, as the owners of Chelsea & Strasbourg, can negotiate deals centrally, but Julio Enciso will sign a contract with only one club. The player will have to be registered with one club based on FIFA RSTP Article 5, which mandates single-club registration meaning Enciso will be registered with Strasbourg via Ligue 1 after his medical.
For potential transfers to Chelsea from Strasbourg, here’s what the rule says regarding transferring players between clubs owned by the same entity: FIFA’s 2025 rules require fair market value & open-market validation for internal transfers. Also, the transfer value must not be inflated or overly reduced to enable either of the clubs to circumvent FFP rules.
When did Julio Ensico join Brighton?
Julio Enciso transferred from Club Libertad to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion on 17 June 2022. He signed a four-year contract for a transfer fee of approximately £9.5 million plus add-ons .
Ensico is going to be a huge addition to Strasbourg and eventually Chelsea when he completes his transfer from Brighton.
