Arne Slot has confirmed that defender Jeremie Frimpong will be sidelined until after the upcoming international break, thereby missing one of the Premier League champions’ key fixtures scheduled for Monday, August 25, 2025, Liverpool vs Newcastle.
The 23-year-old will miss action due to a hamstring injury sustained recently, forcing him out of contention for the Reds’ upcoming fixtures.
“The medical team was completely right about Jeremie to take him off because he’s out until the end of the international break and that happened during the game,” Slot said.
“I think I got criticised a bit for taking him off, didn’t I? I’ve already said it had nothing to do with how he played but we felt he had an issue with his hamstring, and by we, I mean the medical staff. They were completely right. It was a good call to take him off otherwise he maybe would have been out for longer. We expect to have him back after the international break.” Slot stated when addressing the media, noting that the club will not take any risks with the player’s recovery.
The Dutch full-back has quickly established himself as a key figure in Liverpool’s system with his pace, attacking output, and defensive contributions, making his absence a notable setback for the squad.
