Nigerian singer and songwriter Lojay has announced the postponement of his much-anticipated debut album, XOXO, which was originally slated for release this Friday, August 22, 2025.
The acclaimed artiste took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, to inform fans about the delay, citing a need for a “little more time” to perfect the project.
Lojay had previously built considerable excitement around XOXO, officially announcing the body of work across his social media platforms with a pre-save link and hints of an accompanying tour. Known for his genre-blending sound, rich melodies, and emotionally charged vocals, Lojay has consistently carved a unique lane for himself in the evolving Afrobeats landscape since his emergence. XOXO was described as a tightly curated offering, expected to mark a major milestone in his career and reinforce his position as one of the most versatile and forward-thinking voices in contemporary African music.
In his heartfelt tweet addressing the postponement, Lojay explained: “My people, I’ve been working on this album for the last 2 years and I’ve put so much of myself into it. There have been a few things out of my control that mean I need just a little more time before I can share it with you.”
He emphasized his commitment to quality for his inaugural album, stating, “This being my debut album, it’s so important to me that when you press play, it feels timeless. After all this time, I want to be sure it’s exactly right. So we’re moving it back by a few weeks to get it there.”
Lojay concluded by expressing gratitude for his fanbase’s understanding: “I really hope you’ll still rock with me through this, your patience and support mean everything. I promise it’ll be worth the wait.”
