President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In attendance are Vice President Kashim Shettima; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. A majority of cabinet ministers are also present.
Before the commencement of deliberations, President Tinubu inaugurated Professor Dakas CJ Dakas as Chairman and Dr Uchenna Eugene as Commissioner of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission.
During the session, SGF Akume formally informed council members of the passing of Chief Audu Ogbeh, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Minister of Agriculture under the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Council members thereafter observed a minute’s silence in honour of the elder statesman, whom Akume described as “a patriot.”
