Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly apologised for his role in the altercation with ValueJet staff at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, earlier this week.

In a video obtained by Channels Television on Friday, August 8, 2025, the artiste described the incident as “regrettable” and said he took “full responsibility” for his actions.

“I take full responsibility for all incidents. Once again, I seek forgiveness from Mr President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who’s also my father and father of the nation, the Honourable Minister for Aviation, the pilot, the airline, the airline staff, passengers, and above all, my fans across the globe, my family, for the incident,” K1 said.

Explaining the situation, he noted that the container at the centre of the dispute held water, which he needed to sip regularly for health reasons as recommended by his doctor.

The Fuji star, who has long projected himself as an ambassador of Nigeria, admitted the incident was unbecoming of his status, adding, “My love for the country is unshakable. I am still the darling ambassador of our nation, and I’ll continue to carry the banner of this great country everywhere all my life.”

The apology follows directives from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to place K1 De Ultimate on a no-fly list pending a full investigation into the matter. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has also petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police for possible prosecution over what authorities described as unruly behaviour.

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), K1 attempted to board a Lagos-bound ValueJet flight with a flask containing liquid, later alleged to be alcohol, in violation of aviation regulations. The agency further accused him of spilling the liquid on an airline security officer and blocking the aircraft from taxiing, an act the aviation minister likened to “a hostage situation.”

The NCAA has since suspended two ValueJet pilots involved in the incident, citing breaches of safety protocols.

Despite the controversy, K1 De Ultimate stressed in his statement that he remains committed to representing Nigeria positively and hopes the public will accept his apology over the ValueJet incident.
