The Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Dr. Hammed Oyelude Makama, CON, Tegbosun III, has pledged to continue supporting the armed forces in their efforts to defeat insurgency in Nigeria.
The traditional ruler made this commitment during a courtesy visit from the NDA Regular Course 29, an annual gathering known as “Sit Out” in military tradition.
Oba Makama, an honorary member of NDA Regular Course 29, emphasised that the armed forces are a unifying factor in the country and expressed his unwavering support for their efforts.
He urged the military to remain patriotic and make the country proud, assuring them that their efforts would not be in vain.
The Olowu also commended the military for their harmonious working relationships with other security agencies, highlighting the importance of intelligence and support in their operations.
Oba Makama commended the military’s commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity, stating that their efforts would ultimately pay off.
In recognition of his support for the military, the NDA Regular Course 29 presented an award to the Olowu of Kuta.
The group’s president, Commodore Bolaji Seidu (rtd), explained that the annual gathering, “Sit Out,” serves as an opportunity for members to bond and discuss pertinent issues affecting the military.
Brig-Gen Oluwabunmi Oyebade (rtd), Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, thanked the Olowu for the warm reception and acknowledged the monarch’s contributions to the development of Kuta town.
Notably, Oba Makama facilitated the construction of a bridge linking Kuta with Ede, a project that had been neglected for over a century.
Dignitaries at the ceremony include the former Director of Army Operations, Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, the former House of Representatives member, Hon. Amobi Yinusa Akintola, Oba Ismaila Fabunmi, Oba Adetoyese Taiwo Opeyemi, and Olaota of Osunwoyin, Oba Okunola Olufemi, among others.
