A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Enugu North District, Enugu State has remanded a popular “native doctor”, Levi Obieze, popularly known as ‘E dey Play, E dey Show’ at the correctional centre in Enugu for alleged murder and kidnapping.

The Magistrate, OsonduChukwuani, remanded Obieze along with two others, identified as Sebastian Offor and OdinamkpaEjike, after their arraignment on seven counts bordering on murder and kidnapping.

Their remand ended several weeks of suspense after their arrest on May 29, 2025.

They pleaded not guilty on all the charges and the court adjourned till August 20, for further hearing, and directed that their files be moved to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

While the other two suspects were arrested in Enugu, Obieze was arrested at the Badagry-Seme axis while allegedly attempting to flee the country after his crimes were blown up.

Obieze’sarrest followed intelligence linking him to the kidnap of a 13-year-old girl identified as Ukamaka Okoye in Ishiagu Community, Ezeagu Local Council, Enugu State.

It was also alleged that decomposing bodies were discovered at his shrine in Ishiagu, when the security team swooped on the area.

When the crime was discovered in May, it made headlines and dominated the media space for weeks.

Recently, however, critics wondered why he had not been arraigned since arrest for the crimes against him.

The native doctor was alleged to have been burying people alive to maintain the efficacy and potency of his charms and the alarm blew with the incident of the 13-year old girl who was kidnapped while on her way to the farm with her father.
