LAPO Microfinance Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development through its sponsorship of two major youth-led platforms, TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu. The bank said its support aligns with its strategic investment in innovation, community leadership, and inclusive development.
In a statement released by the bank, the sponsorship was described as part of LAPO MfB’s broader mission to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
“TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu offer vibrant spaces where young Nigerians can exchange ideas, tackle local challenges, and develop globally relevant solutions,” the bank stated. “By supporting these platforms, LAPO MfB is investing in a new generation of thought leaders who are capable of driving meaningful change.”
Speaking on the initiative, Oluremi Akande, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at LAPO Microfinance Bank, said the partnership is consistent with the bank’s focus on youth-driven transformation and national development.
“Our partnership with TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu is a reflection of our enduring commitment to youth development and nation-building,” Akande said. “We are investing in platforms that shape future leaders and entrepreneurs—people who will drive Nigeria’s economic and social progress.”
The bank noted that this sponsorship follows its earlier engagements with other TEDx events including TEDxLagos and TEDxUNIMED, where it played an active role in amplifying discussions around inclusive finance, gender equity, and innovation.
With TEDxZamaru and TEDxEnugu scheduled to spotlight ideas worth spreading among young Nigerians, LAPO MfB emphasized that storytelling, critical dialogue, and locally driven solutions are key to empowering communities and unlocking economic potential.
The bank said its continued support for such platforms reflects its long-term vision to build a resilient, knowledge-based society where innovation and inclusion serve as tools for transformation.
