Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters in Nasarawa.

The EFCC, in a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, revealed that the 17 suspects were arrested and apprehended at Mararaba, a small town that marks the border between Nassarawa state and Abuja, following credible intelligence about their suspected involvement in internet-related crime.

The agency recovered five cars, 20 phones and four laptops from the suspects. The EFCC further noted that the arrested suspects will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Cybercrime and internet fraud are common in various parts of the country. The EFCC has, through various efforts, been clamping down on internet fraudsters and cybercriminals in Nigeria.

On Friday, the agency arrested 23 suspected internet fraudsters after raiding a cybercrimes training centre known as ‘yahoo-yahoo Hustle Kingdom’ at Umuahia in Abia State.
