Nigerian left winger, Godwin Okoyeatu, who has previously featured for Eastern District Sports Association in the Hong Kong Premier League and Nigerian side, Dosad FC, highly regarded for his pace and physical presence, has officially joined AS Police, the Benin Premier League club. The move was completed on July 15, 2024.

Okoyeatu, whose Transfermarkt profile lists him as a young and promising attacker, secured the switch after impressive showings in the Nigerian professional circuit. The transfer to AS Police comes after interest from multiple clubs in West Africa, with the Beninese side winning the race for his signature.

In a statement shared by his representatives, he said: “Joining AS Police represents a significant opportunity for me to grow and to test myself at a higher competitive level. I’m excited to contribute to the team’s ambition in the Benin top flight.”

AS Police Sporting Director echoed the player’s enthusiasm: “We’re delighted to bring in Godwin. At just 19/20 years old, he fits our profile of youthful, dynamic talent. We believe he’ll adapt quickly and become a key member of the squad.”

Okoyeatu joins a growing roster of Nigerian players making the move across West African leagues—many of whom use such stints as stepping stones toward bigger opportunities.

The 2024–25 Benin Premier League season commences this fall, and AS Police fans will be keeping a close eye on how Okoyeatu integrates into the squad ahead of their title ambitions.
