A section of a waste tire recycling company, Shril-Balaj Industrial Limited, Olopomeji, Ibadan, has been razed by fire.

The incident was reported to the Oyo State Fire Service at exactly 07:07hr on Sunday.

As gathered, the fire incident was as a result of an explosion of a running machine, which ignited nearby combustibles and set the section ablaze.

According to the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, the fire affected the recycling section and disused tyres, while the fire service was able to save other sections of the company from the devastating fire.

This was contained in a statement made available to The Guardian in Ibadan by Akinwande.

He said: “The fire incident was reported at exactly 07:07hr on Sunday, 20th July 2025, through telephone.

“The Agency’s Officers, led by CFS Olubunmi Christy, swiftly deployed to the scene of the incident. On getting to the place, we met the disused tyres recycling section full of the accumulated disused tyres engulfed by fire.

“The Firemen quickly got to work by applying necessary firefighting equipment in curtailing the fire. The fire was strictly restricted to where we met it and prevented from spreading to other sections of the company. The fire was extinguished.
