Residents of Ogo-Oluwa Community, Matogbun, in Ifo Local Council of Ogun State, have appealed to the state government to save them from extinction as their property, worth a billion naira, had been destroyed by flooding.
The development has turned the community into a ghost town as water coming from other parts of Matogbun settled in the communities as a result of a lack of a proper drainage system to channel the water to the proper channel.
Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA), Adewale Abayomi, said that many house owners had abandoned their property while others sold theirs as a result of the flooding. He urged the state government to come to their aid and rescue the residents from the havoc of the perennial flooding in the area.
One of the residents, Sola Oguniyi, said that the flood in the area had crippled commercial activities in the community.
