The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered a vehicle at the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) Desk Office in Nteje, Oyi Local Council of Anambra State, three years after it was stolen.

Sector Commander of FRSC in Anambra, Mrs Joyce Alexander, made the disclosure yesterday in Awka. She mentioned that the recovery was a result of collaborative efforts between the corps and sister security agencies.

According to Alexander, the vehicle was discovered after an agent of the Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) sent vehicle information for verification, which revealed that the vehicle had been missing for some time.

“Upon verification, the owner was contacted and confirmed that she had not seen the vehicle in three years. The owner provided original documents to prove ownership, and the police from the Anambra were immediately called in to take further action.

“The command is working to ensure that the vehicle is returned to its rightful owner,” she added, describing the feat as a testament to the effectiveness of the Corps’ NVIS database.

“We urge all vehicle owners to ensure that their number plates are uploaded into the NVIS portal for ease of tracking and identification.”

This will enable us to respond promptly to stolen vehicle reports and recover them quickly.

“The command remains committed to enhancing road safety and security in Anambra through the use of technology and collaboration with other security agencies,” Alexander said.
