The South West Zonal Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday called on the Federal Government to release the withheld local government allocation for Osun State.
It should be noted that the local government allocation for Osun State has been withheld due to the ongoing dispute between officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP over the control of local government councils. The dispute has resulted in the closure of council secretariats since February this year.
The caucus made the call during its meeting at Olusoji Adagunodo South West PDP Zonal Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The outcome of the meeting was contained in a communique issued and signed by Chief Sanya Atofarati, the Southwest PDP Zonal Publicity Secretary.
While demanding the release of the allocation, the caucus berated the federal government, describing the action as unconstitutional.
Part of the communique read: ”The caucus demands that the Federal Government immediately release the withheld Osun State Local Government Allocation.
“The withholding of the Osun State Local Government Allocation by the Federal Government is unconstitutional, unwarranted and a violation of the rights and well-being of the people of Osun State.”
