AFCON 2023 winner with Ivory Coast, Simon Adingra has completed a move to the newly promoted side Sunderland.
Sunderland have officially secured the permanent signing of winger Simon Adingra from Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international has joined the Black Cats in a deal worth £21 million plus additional performance-based clauses, penning a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
Adingra played a pivotal role in Ivory Coast’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, setting up both goals in their 2-1 final win over Nigeria. His performances throughout the tournament earned him the Best Young Player award.
“I’m really happy to be here and can’t wait to get going. The club has an exciting vision, and after speaking to everyone, their belief in me made the decision simple. I’m proud to be part of what’s ahead for Sunderland.” Adingra told Sunderland’s official website.
“Playing in the Premier League has always been a dream, so continuing in this league is amazing. There are big challenges ahead, facing top-level players and teams, but I’m ready for it.”
He becomes Sunderland’s sixth signing of the summer as the club prepares for its return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2016/2017 season.
