Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have stormed several bandit hideouts and disrupted a meeting allegedly organised by a notorious bandit leader in the southern part of Taraba State.

The operation was conducted on 5 July 2025, according to a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni, and made available to media practitioners in Jalingo on Monday.

According to the Army, the operation targeted remote areas in Wukari Local Government Council, believed to be strongholds of Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, popularly known as Bajor.

“Acting on intelligence, the troops launched a swift offensive, forcing the criminals to flee and abandon several items,” the Army said.

The raid led to the destruction of camps allegedly used by the syndicate for planning attacks and storing weapons. Troops also recovered five operational motorcycles suspected to be used by the bandits for raids and rapid movement.

Commenting on the development, Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, said Bajor and his associates narrowly escaped but are currently being tracked by security forces.

He assured residents of the Army’s determination to eliminate criminal networks threatening peace in Taraba State and the surrounding region.

Brigadier Uwa urged locals to continue sharing timely information with security agencies to support ongoing operations. He also emphasised that the Brigade would sustain both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to ensure lasting peace and security in the state.

He added that the latest operation is part of a broader clearance campaign aimed at flushing out criminal elements from all parts of Taraba State.
