Speaking during the ceremony held in Kashere village, Akko Local Government Area of the state, Echono revealed that the project was part of the President Tinubu’s broader commitment to repositioning the nation’s tertiary institutions through targeted funding and support.
He stressed that the Federal Government is leaving no stone unturned in sustaining investment in higher education infrastructure.
The Senate Building will include a ground floor with 28 offices and an archive, a first floor with 30 offices, a second floor with 33 offices, and a third floor housing the Council Chamber, two committee offices, and Council Affairs offices. It will also accommodate the Vice-Chancellor and senior administrators.
“TETFund remains firmly committed to supporting institutions like FUK with the necessary resources to grow and thrive.
“In the last two and a half years alone, we have completed and inaugurated 687 capital projects in various higher institutions across Nigeria, reflecting the scale of our intervention”, he said.
Tinubu, represented by Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, called the event a significant step towards improving educational infrastructure and access to quality higher education nationwide.
In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umaru Pate commended TETFund for its ongoing support of FUK, noting the completion of three key projects with the agency’s funding, namely: a Postgraduate Students’ Hostel built with N350.5 million in 2022, and a 500-capacity Lecture Theatre completed for N393.4 million in 2022. The final project includes the College of Medical Sciences Complex, constructed and furnished for N1.38 billion under the 2023 intervention.
