The Katsina State Government has declared Friday, June 27, 2025, as a work-free day to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1447AH.
Governor Dikko Radda made the declaration in a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari. The Governor congratulated Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the commencement of the new Islamic calendar.
The holiday, according to the statement, is intended to allow civil servants and residents of the state to join in commemorating the occasion and to reflect on its spiritual importance.
Governor Radda urged the people of Katsina to continue living in peace and harmony, noting that development cannot be achieved without stability.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing projects aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
The Governor also called on farmers and beneficiaries of the government’s agricultural programmes to make good use of distributed inputs, including fertilisers and tractors, during the ongoing rainy season. He further advised farmers to avoid encroachment on designated cattle routes, forests, and grazing reserves.
Radda concluded by praying for continued peace, unity, and prosperity in Katsina State and the country as a whole.
