The gale of defection by members of the opposition political parties continues to intensify as two members of the House of Representatives have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The two members are Peter Akpanke, representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwara federal constituency of Cross River State, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Prof. Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo federal constituency of Enugu, who left the Labour Party (LP).

Both Akpanke and Nnamchi, in their letters read at plenary by Speaker Abass Tajudeen, adduced the lingering crisis in the PDP and the LP as reasons for their action.
