The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, on Wednesday, urged owners of orphanage homes, foundations, disability centres, and others across the state to register with the state government so that they can benefit from the government whenever the need arises.

Makinde lamented that some of them have yet to be registered with the government, which is depriving them of government benefits.

Speaking in Ibadan while distributing food items, toiletries, cash and other gifts to children with special needs, the governor’s wife, who was represented by the lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Comforter Olajide, said some of the homes should have been registered with the Ministry of Women Affairs.

According to her, registration with the government will enable the government to know their location, what they are doing, and to report on their activities so that the government can know how to reach out to them.

She thanked the wife of the governor for her kind gesture, which included reaching out to the children, uplifting them, putting smiles on their faces, and giving them hope.

She called on well-meaning Nigerians to extend a hand of love to children with special needs.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Special Duty, Alhaja Faosat Sani, lauded Mrs Makinde’s gesture for extending hands of love to the children, who, according to her, are great Nigerians.

She, however, said the cash donations, together with the food items, will complement the efforts of the caregivers in taking good care of the children with special needs.
